About Me

I am originally from the eastern part of North Carolina, but have lived in the High Country for 10 years now. I fell in love with mountain life when I moved here to attend Appalachian State. I have since then decided to plant roots here with my fiancé and three dogs. I enjoy spending time outside, finding new adventures with friends and family, reading, and finding new DIY projects to do around the house. I have a BS in Psychology from Appalachian State University and a MSW from Louisiana State University.

Most of my clinical experience has been working with adolescents and young adults, helping them through life transitions, mental illness, trauma, family and relationship trouble, and more. I have been providing mental health services for about 6 years now, specifically with traumatized youth in both residential and school settings. My most recent position, in Day Treatment as a Therapeutic Intervention Specialist, allowed me to work with youth struggling with anxiety, identity issues, self-harming behaviors, ADHD, and more. During this time, I had the privilege of working one on one, as well as in groups to provide support and teach social skills to help them succeed going forward in their life. I planned and facilitated group therapy activities, specifically structured to teach skills needed for these youth to cope with ongoing stress and past trauma. Supporting the recovery of the youth and enhancing each person's capacity to function in every setting, and watching each person overcome symptoms of their mental health is exactly what I was meant to do, and I would love the opportunity to help you do the same!

In our sessions together, we may use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, strength-based therapy, person-centered therapy, as well as motivational interviewing. Your pace and what works for you will ultimately determine this.

Regardless of your life transition or challenge, I am a caring, compassionate, and genuine person ready to support you!
