About Me
My interest in becoming a therapist grew from a lifelong passion for exploring life's deeper questions. From a young age, I felt drawn to spirituality and the mysteries of the unconscious, seeking answers to life’s questions. Many challenges and experiences throughout my adult life have served as crucibles for growth and transformation, teaching me that everything we go through holds the potential to deepen who we are when met with healing and intention.
Becoming a parent offered one of my most recent shifts in perspective. It opened my eyes to how many women, birthing people, and new parents struggle with the enormous identity and lifestyle changes that accompany having a baby, changes that are too often minimized or misunderstood by our society. My own postpartum experience with anxiety humbled me in ways I didn't expect, and out of that vulnerability grew a deep desire to get further training to become a perinatal therapist. I want to offer others the kind of support that allows them to feel truly seen and understood during one of the most transformative seasons of their lives.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina, where I’m raising a curious, adventurous toddler who keeps me grounded in the beauty and chaos of everyday life. I also find joy in my hobbies of meditation, reading, gardening, and constantly opening to new things and possibilities.
Training, Theoretical Orientation and What to Expect:
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University (2018), where I additionally earned a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. I am also certified in Perinatal Mental Health, offering specialized support for individuals during pregnancy, postpartum, and the many stressors and shifts that come with new parenthood. Additionally, I am trained in both levels 1 and 2 in Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy with ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education, allowing me to support clients in ways that honor both the psychological and the spiritual layers of their experience. Throughout my career, I have worked with young and older adults struggling with anxiety, depression, perinatal mood disorders, major life changes, spiritual concerns, grief, self-esteem, trauma, relationship issues, and stress-management.
My approach to therapy is founded on Existential and Person-Centered theories. I believe in the potential of all people to grow and create a meaningful life for themselves. I also weave somatic practices into our sessions, such as mindfulness meditation, grounding, and helping you develop a kinder relationship with the physical experience of difficult emotions. In my experience, healing happens on a deeper level when we confront where the pain is stored in our bodies.
I’m forever learning and evolving, so I see therapy as a space where we both show up, not as expert and client, but as two humans meeting in truth, care, and presence. As a therapist I am rooted in a heart-centered perspective, as I believe compassionate love and nonjudgment are the most healing qualities I can offer. I also do my best to balance presence and listening with healthy challenges, therapy homework, and goals when appropriate.
