About Me

"I believe one of the most important things I can offer as a therapist is the experience of being genuinely seen, heard, and understood. As a clinician, I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, and I've been working professionally in mental health care since 2010. Over the years, I've learned that while the reasons people seek therapy are often very different, most of us share a desire to feel more connected to ourselves, to the people we love, and to a life that feels meaningful.

What drew me to therapeutic work in the first place was seeing how much people can grow through healthy, healing relationships. I've come to believe that regardless of what brings someone through the door, anxiety, sadness, family conflict, a difficult transition, or simply feeling stuck, there's often something deeply human underneath it. I don't see people as problems that need to be fixed, but rather as people who have developed ways of coping that once made sense, and who may now be ready to discover new ways of moving forward.

My approach is warm, curious, and grounded in the belief that people are doing the best they can with what they've learned and experienced. I want therapy to be a place where you don't have to perform, have all the answers, or explain away the parts of yourself that you find difficult. Instead, we can slow things down, make sense of what's happening, and develop a clearer understanding of what you need and what matters most.

Much of my work focuses on helping people understand how their relationships and earlier experiences continue to shape the way they see themselves and respond to others. At the same time, I believe it's just as important to recognize the strengths, relationships, and experiences that are already helping you move in a healthier direction. My goal isn't simply to help you understand why you feel the way you do, but to help you feel more capable of making meaningful changes in your life.

My own life has taken me through several very different communities. I grew up in upstate South Carolina, lived in New York City and upstate New York, and eventually made my way to western North Carolina. I currently live in the Boone area, where I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, hiking, and being outdoors. Moving through these different places and seasons of life has reinforced for me how much our surroundings, relationships, and experiences shape who we become, and how important it is to create a life that feels genuinely like our own.

Above all, I want the people I work with to feel that therapy is a place where they can be honest without judgment and where change doesn't have to happen all at once. Whether we're working through individual struggles, family concerns, relationship difficulties, or a period of transition, I'll meet you with curiosity, compassion, and respect. My hope is that, together, we can better understand where you've been, make sense of where you are now, and discover where you'd like to go next."
